Ruthenium

E. Ruthenium - brittle, hard, gray metal. It has high corrosion resistance, is not dissolved by aqua regia, however it is slowly corroded in sodium hypochlorite solutions. In small quantities it can be obtained in the form of sheets, strips and wire.

It is used as an alloying additive to platinum, palladium, molybdenum, tungsten, etc. (for example, in the production of pen refill tips and sharpened ends of compass axes). It is also used as a catalyst and in the form of electrolytic coating for electrical contacts and contact surfaces, where wear resistance is particularly important
