Indole-3-carbinol

Indoles belong to the products of hydrolysis of glucosinolates of plants of the cruciferous family. The biological activity of food indoles (indole-3-carbinol, ascorbigen, indole-3-acetonitrile) is associated with their ability to induce the activity of the monoxygenase system and some phase II metabolism enzymes of xenobiotics (glutathione transferases). There are data from epidemiological observations indicating a certain association between high levels of intake of indole-3-carbinol and reduced frequency of risk for developing certain types of hormone-dependent tumors.

Recommended level of consumption for adults - 50 mcg/day (introduced for the first time)
