Gas turbine engine


Gas turbine engine; GTD: a machine designed to convert thermal energy into mechanical energy.

Note - A GTD may consist of one or several compressors, a thermal unit intended for raising the temperature of the working fluid, one or several gas turbines, power take-off shaft, control system and necessary auxiliary equipment. Heat exchangers in the main working fluid circuit, where processes affecting the thermodynamic cycle are implemented, are part of the GTD.
