Shipbuilding Industry of the Russian Federation
The shipbuilding industry of the Russian Federation is a collection of enterprises and organizations registered within the territory of the country in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, regardless of their organizational and legal forms and ownership structures, including shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises, marine machinery manufacturing enterprises, marine instrumentation enterprises, electrical installation enterprises, scientific research and design and engineering organizations (hereinafter referred to as enterprises and organizations), which ensure the creation (research, design, construction, technical support, modernization, repair and disposal) of ships, vessels and floating structures, their component equipment, instrumentation, radio-electronic weapons and arms for the provision of the Navy, maritime units of the FSB, transport maritime and river fleets, passenger fleets, fishing fleets, auxiliary fleets, enterprises of the fuel complex engaged in the extraction of hydrocarbon and other raw materials on the continental shelf, and other areas of marine activities of the Russian Federation. The industry is also a supplier of military and civilian equipment for export.
