Beer - an alcoholic beverage obtained by fermenting a liquid (wort), prepared from malted barley or wheat, water and (usually) hops. For preparing the liquid (wort), some amount of unmalted grain (e.g., corn or rice) may be used. The addition of hops imparts a bitter taste and aroma to the beverage and improves its shelf life.
