Organizational Innovations

12. Organizational innovations are the implementation of a new method in conducting business, organizing workstations or managing external relations. These innovations aim to increase the efficiency of the organization's activities by reducing administrative and transactional costs, by increasing employee satisfaction with the organization of workstations (working time) and thereby improving labor productivity, by gaining access to assets not available on the market or reducing the cost of supplies. The organization does not necessarily have to be the first to implement these organizational innovations. It does not matter whether the innovations were developed by your organization or by other organizations.

Innovations in business operations refer to the implementation of new organizational methods of entrepreneurial activity. They include, for example, the introduction of corporate knowledge management systems, the implementation of training systems aimed at employee development and reducing staff turnover, the introduction of production and supply management systems as a whole, in particular, supply chain management systems, rationalization of production, as well as quality management systems.

Innovations in workplace organization refer to the implementation of new methods of distributing responsibilities and authority among employees for performing work within specific types of organizational activities and between different types of activities (and structural units), as well as new concepts of structuring activities, such as the integration of various areas of activity.

New organizational methods in external relations of an organization mean the implementation of new ways of organizing relationships with other organizations, such as new forms of cooperation with customers or scientific institutions, new integration methods with suppliers, outsourcing or subcontracting relationships in production, supply, distribution, and resolution of personnel and auxiliary issues.

Organizational innovations do not include changes in business operations, workplace organization, or external relations that are based on organizational methods already applied within the organization. Formulating management strategies by itself is not an innovation. However, organizational changes implemented in accordance with a new management strategy are considered innovations if they are applied for the first time in the organization's practice.
