Protective forests


1. Protective forests include forests intended for development in accordance with the purposes specified in paragraph 4 of article 12 of this Code.

2. Taking into account the specific legal regime of protective forests, the following categories of such forests are determined:

1) forests located on specially protected natural territories;

2) forests located in water protection zones;

3) forests performing functions to protect natural and other objects:

a) forests located in the first and second belts of sanitary protection zones of sources of drinking and household water supply;

b) protective forest strips located along general use railway lines, federal general use automobile roads, and general use automobile roads owned by subjects of the Russian Federation;

c) green zones;

v.1) forest park zones;

g) urban forests;

d) forests located in the first, second and third zones of sanitary (mountain-sanitary) protection areas of health resorts and recreational areas;

4) valuable forests:

a) state protective forest strips;

b) erosion control forests;

c) forests located in desert, semi-desert, forest-steppe, forest-tundra zones, steppes, and mountains;

d) forests of scientific or historical significance;

e) walnut-harvesting zones;

f) forest orchards;

g) strip forests;

h) prohibited forest strips along water bodies;

i) fish spawning protection forest strips
