An association is a non-profit organization¹.

An association — the charter of which provides for membership in it or affiliation with it by citizens only on the basis of professional, national, ethnic, racial and (or) religious characteristics (characteristics) (ceased to be in force as of 2005-05-18)².

An association — the charter of which provides for membership in it or affiliation with it by persons who are not entitled to be members of political parties (ceased to be in force as of 2005-05-18)³.
